Bedrock Surface Coatings wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or reduced motion settings.

The standard we build toward

We build this site toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard we measure ourselves against. We are not claiming we meet it perfectly, because being honest about the gaps is more useful to you than a badge.

What we have done

In September 2026 we went through the whole site and made these changes:

• Added a visible focus outline to every link, button, and form field, so keyboard users can always see where they are.
• Added a "skip to main content" link as the first thing a keyboard reaches on every page.
• Made the mobile menu keyboard usable. Focus stays inside it while it is open, the Escape key closes it, and focus returns to the button that opened it.
• Raised the contrast of faint text, form placeholders, and form field borders.
• Tied form error messages to the field they belong to, and made sure errors are never signalled by colour alone.
• Marked decorative graphics so screen readers skip them instead of reading them out.
• Made the scrolling and floating animations respect your system "reduce motion" setting.
• Checked that every image has alt text, that every page has exactly one main heading, and that headings run in order.

What we know is still imperfect

We would rather list these than pretend they are not there.

• The gold "Schedule My Quote" button on our service pages, and one small heading on the promotions page, do not meet the contrast minimum. Our gold sits at about 2.3 to 1 against the light grey background behind it, where the guideline asks for 4.5 to 1. It is comfortably above the minimum everywhere else on the site, which is mostly dark. We have chosen for now to keep the brand colour consistent rather than change it in those places. Every one of those buttons is also reachable as a plain text link, and the same action is available from the phone number and the contact form.
• The large watermark numbers behind our process steps are very low contrast on purpose. They are decoration. We have marked them so screen readers ignore them, and the step order is given by the headings.
• The navigation and footer are drawn by JavaScript. If you have JavaScript turned off, the menu and footer links, including the link to this page, will not appear. The main content of every page still reads fine.
• We have not had this site audited by an outside accessibility specialist, and we have not tested it with every combination of screen reader and browser.
